In October 2018, I read the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5C. That was the first time I realised we were in serious trouble. I couldn't believe it. Furthermore, I couldn't believe it had taken me so long to find out.
It only took a couple of nights of research to read up on the science. It was even more of a shock to realise that even though the science was unambiguusly clear, governments were not taking appropriate action. Emissions were still rising. The temperature was still rising.
The next question was: what do I do? Obiously I needed to minimise my own emissions. But what we needed (at that time), was a 7% global reduction every year.
